Scott Thorson

A homebuilding veteran with over four decades of experience, Scott is recognized for operational excellence and strategic growth. In addition to his role at Clayton, he provides high-level strategic guidance to Blue Diamond Capital’s portfolio of homebuilders, as well as to Treenail Development.

As the former Chief Operating Officer of Oakwood Homes, Scott was a key part of the company’s 2017 acquisition by Clayton Properties Group. During his tenure, he expanded Oakwood’s master-planned communities and was instrumental in the launch of Nest Home Lending and the Colorado Home Building Academy.

Scott’s career includes past service on the Freddie Mac “Housing for Tomorrow” panel and several National Association of Home Builders committees, including the Housing Finance Committee and National Mortgage Roundtable. A West Virginia University graduate, his professional history includes leadership roles at Beazer Homes and Trammell Crow Residential, plus the successful founding, growth and sale of Citizens Homes. Today, he leverages his deep industry knowledge to mentor executive teams and drive performance across the homebuying industry.
