Josh Humphries currently serves as Senior Advisor at the California Community Foundation (CCF), leading special initiatives for the foundation. His work is focused on tackling Los Angeles’ most urgent challenges—housing, economic mobility, and place-based neighborhood revitalization—by incubating new solutions where traditional tools have fallen short. Recent initiatives include LA4LA, an affordable housing impact investment partnership with Mayor Karen Bass, and the Department of Angels, a wildfire recovery organization formed in partnership with Evan Spiegel in the aftermath of the January fires.

Prior to joining CCF, Humphries served as Senior Advisor to Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and previously led the City’s Office of Housing and Community Development. He launched a new public development corporation to build social housing on public land, raised over $400 million in capital, and led the Mayor’s Housing Strike Force, advancing over 45 public land sites for development. He also created the city’s first Housing Help Center, authored eviction diversion and legal aid programs, and led three modular multifamily supportive housing projects, including the fastest delivery in Georgia history. He previously served as Board Chair of Atlanta’s historic Municipal Market, securing its first major public investment in over 30 years, and as a board member of HouseATL, a regional housing coalition. Humphries previously led workforce development and economic mobility initiatives in New York City and worked as a community organizer in Los Angeles.

Humphries holds a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Kennesaw State University.
