How We Work

Where We're Going

Solving America’s Housing Crisis

The Task Force is focused on breaking through the housing crisis to fix a broken system, not just work around it. We are uniquely positioned to design, pilot, and scale innovations to the housing crisis.

  • We are designing a National Housing Agenda, working with America’s top housing research centers to identify transformational solutions to the root causes of America’s housing crisis. This Agenda will put all the innovations we are working on into a cohesive and compelling vision for the next generation of housing.
  • We are piloting new innovations by providing support to tackle hard challenges and seize intriguing opportunities. We provide members and partners with subject matter expertise, strategic counsel, and project management services – along with our national platform – to deploy new initiatives in the institutions they run.
  • We are scaling existing innovations across the country by helping public, private, and civic leaders adopt what works. The Task Force released a State and Local Housing Action Plan in June 2025 that detailed 15 innovations that were already underway by “first mover” cities, counties, and states.

What We're Building

State and Local Housing Action Plan

The Action Plan profiles 15 best-in-class innovations from around the country, which has a cohort of energetic mayors, governors, and practitioners working to implement them.

Federal Policy Agenda

An agenda outlining actions for the federal and national organizations to unlock local innovations, which contains policies that have advanced in the ROAD to Housing Act, the 21st Century Housing Act, and the HUBS Act.

Innovation Implementation

Our Task Force has built a trusted platform for leaders and innovators across sectors, parties, and places to elevate practical insights and best-in-class research, use these to design new housing solutions fit for the moment, and lead their peers in implementing them.
